Retaining Wall

Caracas , Venezuela

Design and Calculation of a Retaining Wall in Caracas, Venezuela for Landslide Protection

As the Resident Engineer for the project, I was responsible for designing and calculating the retaining wall to ensure the safety of the homes situated in an area vulnerable to landslides in Caracas, Venezuela. The project was critical to prevent soil erosion and land movement that posed significant risks to the stability of the nearby structures.

My role included:

  • Designing the Retaining Wall: I conducted a thorough analysis of the site, considering soil conditions, slope stability, and hydrological factors, to design a retaining wall that would provide the necessary support to prevent land shifts.

  • Calculating Structural Parameters: Using engineering principles, I calculated the forces acting on the wall and determined the appropriate materials and dimensions required for the wall’s construction.

  • On-Site Supervision: As the Resident Engineer, I was directly involved in overseeing the construction process, ensuring that the design was implemented correctly, and verifying that the materials and techniques used adhered to the project specifications.
